Which Type Of Bodywork Is Right For You?

bodywork Jul 14, 2021

People often ask, “do you do deep tissue? Or myofascial release? Or (insert trendy cert here)?” YES… And, you also get ALL MY OTHER training and experience, synthesized in the moment; you get all my presence, my attention, my touch and approach adapting and responding to your body too.
For bodywork to be truly effective, we need something more valuable than a choreographed routine which only includes one style or kind of massage technique… and here’s why.

The specific approach used in my therapeutic bodywork sessions depends on a LARGE number of factors, designed to help you optimize results.

Such as:

  • Your personal and medical history
  • Your goals of treatment (overall and for the session)
  • The stage of inflammation that you’re in
  • How long you’ve been struggling with this issue
  • Our rapport/trust
  • The scope and progress of our treatment history to date
  • Past traumas, personal modifications, or other contraindications

For example, if you just broke your arm, it’s probably not a great idea to come in and get a deep tissue massage. But I can help you passively mobilize joints and reduce inflammation. Similarly, taking pain pills for chronic pain oftentimes provides temporary relief in short term … but can complicate and exacerbate conditions over the long term. So here is where I may need to use deeper pressure to target old imbalances. So I don’t claim to offer deep tissue massages Really what I do is figure out what your needs are and give your body that. What do you guys think? Is the difference between the two terms clear or meaningful to you?
